Overview
River Roux is a French-inspired café and wine bar located along the Chicago River, designed to serve both office tenants and the broader downtown community. I led brand development and marketing strategy from early concept through launch, creating the identity, brand system, and launch campaigns that established River Roux’s presence in a highly competitive hospitality market.
Brand Development
I developed the River Roux brand identity and guidelines, establishing the strategic and visual foundation for the concept.
The name reflects the concept’s core identity—“River” anchoring the brand in its Chicago River location, and “Roux,” a foundational element of French cooking, symbolizing craft, warmth, and culinary tradition.
The visual identity was designed to balance sophistication and approachability, blending French café influence with the energy of downtown Chicago. Typography, color, and environmental branding were developed to create a cohesive system across menus, signage, and digital platforms.
This brand foundation ensured consistency across every guest touchpoint from opening onward.
Launch & Marketing
I led marketing strategy and creative direction leading up to and following launch, ensuring the brand was positioned for strong early awareness and growth.
This included:
